To live in Oratory of San Filippo e Giacomo

The oratory, of medieval origin, stands on a hill sloping east towards Marostica and was probably founded by the Cumani di Castelletto family, powerful vassals of the Bishop of Padua.
In 1262 the oratory was mentioned in documents regarding the collection of tithes. The building that stands today was originally built by the Franco-Lombards but was renovated in 1500, then re-adapted in the 18th century. The church is in an interesting astronomical position: the west wall of the entrance is aligned with the meridian and the apse wall to the east marks the spring and autumn equinoxes. Inside there is a 19th century altar painting of San Filippo e Giacomo and the martyrdom of St. Peter of Verona.
The building was completely restored by the local section of the Alpini Association. The Oratory has always been important for the community, in particular during the May Day festivities, for the procession of St. Peter, and for wedding ceremonies.
