To live in Walls and doors and panoramic walk on the walls of Marostica

The building of the walls (about 1700-1800 m long) that surround Pausolino hill and the plain below began on 1st March 1372 during the age of Cansignorio della Scala (1359-1375).
The walls, all crenellated and with chemin de rondes, are interspersed with 24 "torresini" (small towers). The three sturdy gates, Vicentina, Bassanese and Breganzina, which look south, east and west respectively, all have a ravelin (fortification).
There is another door, called Tramontana, that faces north at the end of the eastern walls; it gives access to the road that leads to the actual entrance of the Castello Superiore (Upper Castle). A moat and drawbridges at the gates further strengthened the defensive structure of Marostica, a Dalla Scala outpost on the border with Bassano which at that time had been conquered by the da Carrara family, lords of Padua. According to Marin Sanudo, a Venetian author from the fifteenth century, it took three years to build the walls, which were completed in 1375.

Since 2014, the east side of the the walls of Marostica has been open and accessible: with a height that goes from 8 to 12 meters and a width of 70 cm, it is the most evocative medieval staircase in the area!
The route begins at the Tower of the Compagnia delle Mura (the second east of the hill).
There you will buy tickets that include climbing harness and then you will continue in extreme safety your panoramic walk on the medival walls of Marostica.
During the panoramic walk you will admire a breathtaking view indieed it will allow you to enjoy a unique experience in contact with the history and nature of Marostica!

Open on Sundays and holidays from March to November

Spring / autumn: 10.30-18.00 (last shift at 17.30)
Summer: 10.30-19.00 (last shift at 18.30)

Cumulative ticket (Lower Castle + Panoramic walk on Marostica's walls): Full € 11.00 / Reduced € 7.00 (under 14)

OTHER INFORMATION:

Tickets can be purchased directly at the starting point, Torre Compagnia delle Mura, or at the ticket office of the Lower Castle.
Openings and closures of the Panoramic Walk may change according to weather conditions.
